FQHC

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is the primary federal agency for improving healthcare to people who are geographically isolated, economically or medically vulnerable. It is an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Within HRSA, the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) funds health centers in underserved communities, providing access to high quality, family oriented, comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare for people who are low-income, uninsured or face other obstacles to getting healthcare. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Primary Health Solutions is held accountable by BPHC and HRSA. Butler County Community Health Consortium dba Primary Health Solutions is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).”

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) include all organizations receiving grants under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (PHS). FQHCs qualify for enhanced reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid and other benefits in order to serve communities in medically underserved areas. FQHCs must offer a sliding fee scale, provide primary care and preventive services, maintain a quality assurance program and have a governing board composed of 51% consumers.
